Human T-cell lymphotropic virus; any of a group of lymphotropic retroviruses that have a selective affinity for certain T cells and are associated with adult T cell leukemia and lymphoma. One type, HTLV-III, causes AIDS. Also called human T-cell leukemia virus.

HTLV Human T cell leukemia/lymphoma virus A family of single-stranded retroviruses, subfamily Oncoviridae, that produce a DNA copy from viral RNA using reverse transcriptase; HTLVs are capable of immortalizing and transforming T cells
