H+,K+-ATPase (a-te-pe´ās) a membrane-bound enzyme occurring on the surface of the parietal cells; it uses the energy derived from ATP hydrolysis to drive the exchange of ions (protons, chloride ions, and potassium ions) across the cell membrane, secreting acid into the gastric lumen.
