gua sha (kwä sä), n technique used in traditional Chinese medicine; a porcelain soup spoon is scraped across the patient's skin in order to produce a rash—“sha”—that will fade in two or three days. Raising “sha” removes blockages in blood stagnation, thereby promoting normal circulation and metabolic processes. How to thank TFD for its existence?
