growing fracture
Etymology: AS, growan + L, fractura, to break
a fracture, usually linear, in which consecutive radiographic images show a gradual separation of the fracture edges over time. The separation is often caused by the pressure of soft tissues, as when arachnoid tissues expand through the edges of a skull fracture.
