Aerospace medicine A loss of visual resolution—‘misting’ of the visual field—which is described in acceleration or deceleration injuries in high speed vehicles
Cardiology A descriptive term for faintness due to vasodepressor illness/vasovagal syncope which may be seen in cardiac disease—e.g., in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Substance abuse Graying out (1) A term of art for a mental state that falls short of a black-out, caused by an excess in alcohol or abuse substance intake (2) A term referring to lacunae in short-term and working memory due to chronic marijuana use (or other substance abuse)
