Golden Hour The time span—usually about an hour—after a trauma victim’s arrival at a health care facility, during which the management team can have a positive impact on the patient’s outcome—i.e., to order appropriate diagnostic tests and initiate patient management, either surgical or continued observation golden hour the first hour following a traumatic injury; patients who are in the operating room within one hour of injury have a much higher survival rate.
