Discovered by (OSI) Prosidion, OSI's diabetes and obesity team, PSN357 is a glycogen phosphorylase inhibitor (GPI), which is designed to rapidly lower blood glucose levels by preventing glycogen breakdown to glucose in the liver.
Nasdaq: OSIP) announced today that it has initiated a Phase IIa clinical trial for its glycogen phosphorylase inhibitor, PSN357, which the company is developing for type 2 diabetes.
Other product candidates include a glycogen phosphorylase inhibitor currently in a Phase I clinical trial and a glucokinase activator scheduled to enter a Phase I clinical trial in 2006.
