a glycated serum protein complex which reflects average blood glucose concentration over the previous 1-3 weeks; used in the management of insulin therapy for diabetes mellitus.

Diabetology Fructose with an bound amine group, the serum levels of which reflect the degree of glycation of serum proteins; fructosamine levels reflect glycemic control over a period of 2-3 wks. See Glycosylated hemoglobin.
