The insulinotropic actions of glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (7-37) in normal and diabetic subjects. A randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind, crossover study was conducted in 16 healthy adults to assess the potential complementary effects of sitagliptin and metformin on GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). Incretin hormones, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), are released by the intestine throughout the day, and levels are increased in response to a meal. |
