Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) scale, a scale used to assess psychiatric status, ranging from 1 (lowest level of functioning) to 100 (highest level), measuring psychologic, social, and occupational functioning. This scale owes some of its derivation to the SOFAS, which in turn was a cleaned up Global Assessment of Functioning Scale (GAF of DSM 4) (Hilsenroth et al, 2000). Each client was then rated by a MHC using the Global Assessment of Functioning scale (APA) and Functional Assessment Rating Scale (FARS; Ward & Dow, 1994). The Global Assessment of Functioning scale (GAF) is one of the most widely used measures of impairment and functioning in clinical and research settings (Basco, Krebaum, & Rush, 1997). |
