Gedoelstia
a genus of flies of the family Oestridae.

Gedoelstia cristata
larvae are deposited in the eye and pass via a vein to the cardiovascular system. Larvae migrate up the trachea to the nasal cavity. Aberrant infection occurs in domestic ruminants; the usual hosts are wild ruminants.
Gedoelstia hassleri
larvae of this fly are deposited in the conjunctival sac and migrate to the nasal cavity via blood vessels, meninges and subdural space in hartebeeste and wildebeeste, but without causing clinical illness. Aberrant infection occurs in domestic ruminants causing severe ocular and neural disease. Called also ophthalmomyiasis, uitpeuloog, gedoelstial myiasis.
