Gary Dockery
A police officer who was shot in the head in 1988 while responding to a domestic disturbance. He slipped into a semicomatose state for 7+ years. In 1996, he woke up and started talking again nonstop, recognised old friends, recalled the names of his horses, and camping trips. The following day he fell silent, as he recovered from lung surgery, and never recovered. In April 1997, he died at age 43
