galvinism

An obsolete term referring to:
(1) Direct-current electricity, as in that derived from a chemical battery;
(2) Therapeutic use of direct-current electricity, an obsolete modality of dubious clinical efficacy;
(3) Electric shock that occurs when two dissimilar metals are bathed in a fluid (e.g., oral secretions).
