Neurons from the contralateral vestibular nuclei and Purkinje fibers from the cerebellum are believed to exert their inhibitory effects via this GABAergic system. Baclofen binds with the GABAergic presynaptic receptor, causing hyperpolarization of the membrane and limiting the influx of calcium into the presynaptic terminal. |
