A white poisonous glycoside extracted from the seeds of the African trees Strophanthus gratus and Acokanthera ouabaio and used as a heart stimulant.

a cardiac glycoside obtained chiefly from the plant Strophanthus gratus; its effect is similar to that of digitalis, but digitalization is achieved more rapidly.
