furocoumarin
photosensitizing substances which occur normally in some plants such as Ammi majus and Cymopterus watsonii, and in others only if they are infected with bacteria or fungi. The furocoumarins are endogenous photodynamic agents which have the capacity to cause photosensitive keratoconjunctivitis. See also phytoallexin.
