Fuchs' heterochromic iridocyclitis

    0.01 sec.
iridocyclitis, Fuchs' heterochromic
A chronic, idiopathic, non-granulomatous anterior uveitis characterized by heterochromia, often complicated by cataract which then leads to blurred vision, the main complaint. It is occasionally bilateral; in this case there is no heterochromia. The condition occurs in about 4% of all cases of uveitis. Keratic precipitates are usually present, being small, round or stellate, grey-white in colour and scattered throughout the posterior surface of the cornea. They do not conglomerate or become pigmented and filaments may be seen in between. Glaucoma may develop. Treatment may involve topical steroids as well as cataract or glaucoma therapy. Syn. Fuchs' uveitis syndrome; Fuchs' heterochromic cyclitis; heterochromatic iridocyclitis. See keratic precipitates.
