Franklin-Silverman biopsy needle used for obtaining biopsy specimens of the liver, kidney, prostate. Consists of a stylet that fits inside a needle split along its length and which spreads open when not confined within the third part of the appliance, the cannula. The split needle and stylet are longer than the cannula, and are protruded beyond it in the suspect tissue and withdrawn into it to harvest the specimen. How to thank TFD for its existence?
