footdrop /foot·drop/ (foot´drop) dropping of the foot from a peroneal or tibial nerve lesion that causes paralysis of the anterior muscles of the leg.

Etymology: AS, fot + dropa
an abnormal neuromuscular condition of the lower leg and foot characterized by an inability to dorsiflex, or evert, the foot, caused by damage to the common peroneal nerve.

footdrop [foot´drop]
1. a contracture deformity associated with bed rest and immobility, resulting in the inability to place the heel on the ground.
2. dropping of the foot from paralysis of anterior muscles of the lower limb.
