| The combination regimen CapeOX, which is capecitabine (Xeloda, Roche) and oxaliplatin (Eloxatin, sanofi~aventis), was added as an alternate option to the combination of fluorouracil, leucovorin and oxaliplatin (known as FOLFOX). The company has already received ANDA approvals in the United States for seven generic oncology drugs, including Fluorouracil and Methotrexate, but only in vials for injection. In the first study, researchers in the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) studied 679 node-negative patients, finding that women given chemotherapy -- a combination of methotrexate and fluorouracil - had an 80 percent disease-free survival rate four years later, compared with 71 percent of controls. |
