flora /flo·ra/ (flor´ah) [L.] 1. the collective plant organisms of a given locality. 2. the bacteria and fungi, both normally occurring and pathological, found in or on an organ. intestinal flora the bacteria normally within the lumen of the intestine.
Flora Refers to normal bacteria found in a healthy person. Present in most individuals as normal inhabitants of the oral cavity. They are usually saprophytic in nature and live together in a symbiotic relationship.
