Whitley Bay Comrades Club held its annual Service of Remembrance on November 11 and raised over pounds 1,200 for the Royal British Legion with its traditional auction of the Flanders Poppy.
The Summer Favourites collection contains the top 40 best-selling varieties, including Swan River Daisy, Angel Rose, Verbena, Lavatera, Flanders Poppy, Pansy, Alpine Strawberry, Geranium, Aubrietia, Virginian Stocks, Carnation, Poached Egg Plant, Nemophila, Clarkia, herbs and many more.
Also known as the Flanders poppy, the smart black blotch at the base of each scarlet petal makes it easy to recognise.
