Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome
Intrauterine growth retardation in 1 twin due to an artery-to-artery vascular shunting, which may occur in a diamnionic-dichorionic placenta, accompanied by hydramnios; the ‘donor’ twin is anaemic, pale, lighter, smaller with organ hypoplasia; the recipient twin is plethoric, polycythemic, macrosomic, has increased vascular resistance and may develop heart failure
