Festuca pasture grasses, members of the family Poaceae; toxic when infested with endophytic fungi or grass nematodes. Includes F. arundinacea (F. elatior var. arundinacea, tall fescue) with Neotyphodium(Acremonium) coenophialum (causes fescue summer toxicosis and fescue foot); F. rubra var. commutata (Chewing's fescue) + Anguina agrostis nematodes + Clavibacter toxicus causes tunicaminyluracil poisoning. Stan Faeth of Arizona State University in Tempe, for example, reports that one of tall fescue's native relatives, Festuca arizonica, doesn't grow as well when it houses one of the supposedly protective fungal partners. In front of the roses, there is a row of Festuca ovina glauca 'Golden Toupee. The ISAAC panel of six aeroallergens was used: Dermatophagoides farinae, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, cat, Alternaria tenuis, mixed tree pollen (Betula verrucosa, Alnus glutinosa, Corylus avellana), and mixed grass pollen (Dactylis glomerata, Lolium perennae, Festuca pratensis, Pod pratensis, Phleum pratense, Avena eliator). |
