Related to Fehling's test: Seliwanoff's test
Fehling's test a procedure used to detect the presence of REDUCING SUGARS in an unknown solution. Two solutions are mixed: Fehling's solution A containing copper tartrate (Cu(II)), and Fehling's solution B containing sodium hydroxide. The mixture is then added to the test solution and boiled. An orange-red precipitate of copper oxide (CU(I)) indicates the presence of a reducing sugar.
