The organization strives to enhance the safety, quality, and integrity of health care by promoting elevated standards for medical practice and physician licensure. With regards to complementary and alternative medicine, the Federation advises practitioners to ask patients about their use of complementary and alternative medicine and provide increased education about the scientific basis of such approaches and the risks involved with ceasing conventional treatment.
