Federation of State Medical Boards,

n.pr an association comprising the medical boards of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, Guam, Puerto Rico, and 13 state boards associated with osteopathic medicine. The organization strives to enhance the safety, quality, and integrity of health care by promoting elevated standards for medical practice and physician licensure. With regards to complementary and alternative medicine, the Federation advises practitioners to ask patients about their use of complementary and alternative medicine and provide increased education about the scientific basis of such approaches and the risks involved with ceasing conventional treatment.
