FASTK

A gene on chromosome 7q35 that encodes a serine/threonine kinase activated by dephosphorylation that in turn phosphorylates the splicing regulator TIA1, leading to an mRNA encoding a pro-apoptotic form of the receptor. It is expressed in the heart, brain, placenta, lungs, liver, skeletal muscle, kidneys and pancreas.
