FN1

A gene on chromosome 2q34 that encodes fibronectin, a glycoprotein present as a soluble dimer in plasma, and as a dimer or multimer on cell surfaces and in extracellular matrices. It plays central roles in cell adhesion and motility as required in embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, opsonisation, host defence, maintenance of cell shape and metastasis. It binds to collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA and actin.

A new set of physiological water dipping objectives have been developed for the FN1 featuring longer working distances of up to 3.
The Nikon FN1 features an ON/OFF mechanism for the filter turret, optical path changer, magnification changer and the condenser filter changer to reduce vibration related noise.
In pairing the FN1 microscope with Thorlabs' OCT technology, we are able to complement our traditional widefield and confocal imaging systems by providing a similar but more macro view," said Stan Schwartz, vice president, Nikon Instruments, Inc.
The Multi-patch version of the Eclipse FN1 "Physiostation" provides a fully motorized multi-manipulator patching solution for electrophysiological applications.
The FN1 Multipatch does not require the microscope or specimen to move in order to observe different cells within a large, low magnification field of view and the system allows multiple pipettes to be positioned automatically in three dimensional space.
