FLNC(redirected from FLN-C)
Also found in: Dictionary, Thesaurus.
FLNCA gene on chromosome 7q32-q35 that encodes filamin gamma (filamin C), a muscle-specific actin-binding protein that crosslinks actin filaments into orthogonal networks in cortical cytoplasm and anchors membrane proteins to the actin cytoskeleton. It is critical for normal myogenesis and for maintaining the structural integrity of the muscle fibres.
Defects in FLNC cause myofibrillar myopathy type 5 and myopathy distal type 4.
