7 cells, a mouse macrophage cell line (American Type Culture Collection, Rockville, MD, USA), were cultured in DMEM supplemented with 10% FBS.
BGM, FRhK, HEK-293, HEL, Hep G2, L20, MA-104, pCMK, and RD-A cell lines were all maintained in modified Eagle medium (MEM) supplemented with 10% FBS.
We split the cell suspension into two tubes and diluted in two different media compositions; media 1, as described above, or media 2, which differed only by the FBS manufacturer (BioWhittaker, Walkersville, MD).
