Owing to the "small, round, blue-cell" nature of the neoplasm, the differential diagnosis is quite broad; it includes melanoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, sinonasal undifferentiated carcinoma, lymphoma, Ewing's sarcoma, pituitary adenoma, plasmacytoma, paraganglioma, and primitive neuroectodermal tumor.
``The times may seem bad, but in the long run, it's good to be alive,'' said Nathan, 12, who was diagnosed in April 2005 with Ewing's sarcoma -- a cancer that attacks bone and soft tissue.
