Eupatorium a plant genus of the Asteraceae family; contains mostly unidentified toxins. Includes E. wrightii. Eupatorium adenophorum in Australia and Hawaii, pulmonary fibrosis is the principal lesion, and dyspnea and cough the cardinal signs in poisoning of horses by these plants. Called also Numinbah horse sickness, Tallebudgera horse disease. Eupatorium rugosum, Eupatorium ageratoides, Eupatorium urticaefolium poisoning causes tremor, dyspnea, paralysis and recumbency and can be fatal. The toxic alcohol that it contains is passed through the milk of cows and can poison persons who drink it. Called also white snakeroot. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
