Electrophysiology study
A test using cardiac catheterization to stimulate an electrical current to provoke an arrhythmia. The test identifies the origin of arrhythmias and is used to test the effectiveness of antiarrhythmic drugs.

The proposed new DRG 535 will be used for patients who qualify for an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) as the result of an electrophysiology study who also suffer from heart failure.
Under the new indication, these patients no longer have to undergo an invasive electrophysiology study before receiving an implantable defibrillator.
Chazanovitz went on to say, "Clinical use of MTWA in various cardiology practices demonstrates that approximately 1 in 5 MTWA Tests performed in patient populations often not referred to invasive electrophysiology study, leads to the placement of an ICD.
