New Jersey's pilot program to study the implementation of secure electronic medical records statewide has received a federal grant of $349,000. Approximately 15 percent of hospitals and 5 percent of private physicians have already installed computerized electronic medical records technology for patient records as a vehicle for streamlining hospital operations, increasing accuracy and reducing medical errors. Bush has called for electronic medical records for most Americans within 10 years. |
