Elam gag

    0.02 sec.
Elam gag
a gag used in horses and cattle to obtain access to the interior of the mouth. Shaped like a stringless tennis racquet with two horizontal bars, one of which can be moved by manipulating a screw drive. The gag is inserted in the mouth in a horizontal position and immediately brought to the vertical position with the bars located caudad to the incisor teeth. The bars are now screwed apart giving unimpeded access to the interior of the mouth.
