Psychiatry adjective Referring to the aspects of a person's behavior, thoughts, and attitudes viewed as repugnant or inconsistent with the total personality. Cf Ego-syntonic nounA tendency towards a particular behavior–eg, homosexuality, in a person who seeks to negate that behavior.
