A gene on chromosome 2p16.2 that encodes a probable lectin which binds selectively to improperly folded luminal proteins and is thought to function in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) quality control and ER-associated degradation (ERAD) of non-glycosylated proteins and glycoproteins.
