tocopherol /to·coph·er·ol/ (to-kof´er-ol) any of a series of structurally similar compounds, some of which have biological vitamin E activity. α-tocopherol , alpha tocopherol the most prevalent form of vitamin E in the body and that administered as a supplement; often used synonymously with vitamin E. Also used as the acetate and acid succinate esters.
