The role of diet, exercise and smoking in dyslipidaemia in HIV-infected patients with lipodystrophy. This syndrome is characterised by abdominal obesity and a number of associated metabolic anomalies, such as insulin resistance, dyslipidaemia and hypertension. The guideline recommends that risk factor modification be considered as part of the total package, with attention not diverted from lifestyle factors-such as smoking cessation, nutrition or physical activity-while pharmacological management of dyslipidaemia, hypertension or diabetes is undertaken. |
