The reality is that this legislation failed because it was expensive, shortsighted and wouldn't have done anything to prevent the likelihood of future injuries or deaths from driving under influence of intoxicants.
The actor entered his plea to one count of felony cocaine possession, and one count each of misdemeanor driving under influence, possession of a weapon and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Beginning October 1, Michigan's "repeat offender law" mandates that individuals with multiple convictions for driving under influence of alcohol or drugs, or certain other infractions, will have their driver's license suspended and their car impounded for the duration of their sentence.
