doxazosin /dox·a·zo·sin/ (dok-sa´zo-sin) a compound that blocks α; used as d. mesylate in the treatment of hypertension and of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

a selective alpha-adrenergic blocking agent used as the mesylate derivative as an antihypertensive and in treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia; administered orally.

CHICAGO -- A controlled-re-lease formulation of the anti-hypertension medication doxazosin significantly reduced nightmares and overall posttraumatic stress disorder symptoms in a small open-label trial.
The tot was prescribed doxazosin to reduce her blood pressure but was given an anti-inflammatory by mistake after a mix-up with the medicine boxes.
The most frequently-used alpha-blockers were tamsulosin (n = 725), alfuzosin (n = 223), doxazosin (n = 189), and terazosin (n = 103).
