dopa /do·pa/ (do´pah) 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine, produced by oxidation of tyrosine by monophenol monooxygenase; it is the precursor of dopamine and an intermediate product in the biosynthesis of norepinephrine, epinephrine, and melanin. -dopa is the naturally occurring form; see levodopa.
do·pa (dp)
n.
Dihydroxyphenylalanine; an amino acid formed in the liver from tyrosine and converted to dopamine in the brain.

DOPA
The common name for a natural chemical (3, 4-dihydroxyphenylalanine) made by the body during the process of making melanin.
Mentioned in: Albinism

dopa
[dō′pə]
an amino acid, produced by oxidation of tyrosine, that occurs naturally in plants and animals. It is a precursor of dopamine, epINEPHrine, norepinephrine, and melanin. See also dopamine hydrochloride, levodopa.

dopa [do´pah]
a compound produced by oxidation of tyrosine by tyrosinase; it is the precursor of dopamine and an intermediate product in the biosynthesis of norepinephrine, epinephrine, and melanin. The naturally occurring form is l-dopa (see levodopa), and is used to treat parkinson's disease and other forms of parkinsonism.

dopa
(dō´p),
n an amino acid derived from tyrosine that occurs naturally in plants and animals. It is a precursor of dopamine, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.

dopa
L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine. Key intermediate in two pathways; the production of melanins from tyrosine catalyzed by the copper-containing enzyme, tyrosinase, to produce dopa, or the biosynthesis of catecholamines catalyzed by the action of tyrosine. It is used in manganese poisoning. Called also L-dopa and levodopa.

The reason may be due to the fact that DGTHO containing more DOPO groups decomposing earlier at low temperature.
Of these, a unique compound, ODOPB [2-(6-oxido-6H dibenz(c,e)(1,2)oxaphosphorin-6-yl)-1,4-benzenediol], derived from DOPO and synthesized and characterized by Wang and Shieh [16], was identified as a good flame-retardant curing agent that could be applied to an epoxy system, such as the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), o-cresol novolac epoxy (CNE), and some polyester systems.
EXPERIMENTAL Synthesis of ODOPN DOPO (from TCI), 1,4-naphthaquinone (from TCI), 3-nitrobenoyl chloride, 4-nitrobenzoyl chloride (from Fluka), and 10% Pd/C (from Lancaster) were used without further purification.
