dolomite

A general term for a specific form of calcium-magnesium carbonate that may used as a calcium supplement to ensure healthy bones, which is mined in the Dolomites in northeast Italy. Some of the mineral deposits are contaminated with heavy metals (lead, cadmium, etc.), for which the FDA sets a maximum level of 5 ppm (which dolomite exceedes).
