dofetilide /do·fet·i·lide/ (do-fet´ĭ-līd) an antiarrhythmic used in the treatment of atrial arrhythmias. dofetilide, a class III antidysrhythmic. indications It is used to treat atrial fibrillation and flutter. contraindications Known hypersensitivity to this drug, digitalis toxicity, aortic stenosis, pulmonary hypertension, QT syndromes, and severe renal disease prohibit its use. It is also contraindicated in children. adverse effects Serious adverse effects include severe diarrhea, anorexia, angina, premature ventricular contractions, substernal pressure, transient hypertension, and precipitation of angina. Common side effects include syncope, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, hypotension, postural hypotension, and bradycardia. dofetilide Tikosyn® Cardiology A selective potassium channel blocking antiarrhythmic used in CHF and left ventricular dysfunction to convert A Fib, prevent its recurrence, and ↓ risk of future hospitalization; it has no
