Stillman diet

A high-protein, low-carbohydrate, low-fat diet formulated in 1967, which recommended eight glasses of water per day and consumption of six small meals per day, rather than three larger meals.

The Stillman diet was infamously linked to Karen Carpenter, of the Carpenter singing duo, who died in 1983 of complications of anorexia nervosa, at which time she weighed 91 pounds, down from 145 pounds when she began dieting in 1967. Stillman recommended the diet for seriously overweight people and not for people with known eating disorders.
