Rumex
plant genus of the Polygonaceae family; dock and sorrel plants which contain oxalate but are unpalatable and are rarely recorded as causes of poisoning. Includes R. acetosa (sorrel), R. acetosella (R. angiocarpus, dock sorrel), R. brownii (swamp dock), R. conglomeratus (clustered dock), R. crispus (curly dock), R. venosus (veined dock), R. vesicarius (red or ruby dock). See also soluble oxalate poisoning.
