RAID

abbreviation for redundant array of inexpensive disks, a computer data storage system with rapid access time and enhanced fault tolerance.

Disk striping does not store redundant data across the disk array; rather, it uses a system of parity checks--or hash totals--to rebuild lost data should one drive in the array fail.
Generally speaking, the above holds true for disk striping as well (RAID).
RAID 0 is merely disk striping, which has some performance advantages, but stores no parity information and, thus, does not offer true RAID data protection.
