By using studies such as perfusion- and diffusion-weighted imaging with magnetic resonance imaging, physicians can improve accuracy of early stroke diagnosis, and researchers can obtain qualitative information regarding the functional state of brain tissue after injury.
MRIs of the brain and cervical spine were performed to obtain apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and T2-weighted imaging.
These performance enhancements include Echo-Planar Imaging (EPI)-based Diffusion-Weighted Imaging that is useful in the diagnosis of acute ischemia and other neurological disorders; Contrast-Enhanced MR Angiography appropriate for vascular studies; and FatSep(TM), a fat suppression technique for enhancing the visualization of musculoskeletal anatomy.
