As he worked, he happened to notice that if current was flowing through the gold strip and a magnetic field was placed perpendicular to one side of the strip, a difference in electrical potential was detected at the strips edges. That's why voltage is usually referred to as electrical pressure--it's a measure of the difference in electrical potential between where the electrons are, and where they want to be. |
