Recently there has been a lot of talk about a study that found that people who drank at least 1 diet soda a day were more likely to gain weight and suffer Metabolic Syndrome.
Anytime you have a drink with your meal, it should be something that has zero calories, and I'm sorry but I diet soda cannot fit in this category even though it has zero calories.
Then there are soft drinks -- at least the sugar-sweetened ones; diet soda would be spared: Here the Senate Finance Committee, among whose members is New Mexico's Jeff Bingaman, is tiptoeing: The tax would be on every 12 ounces of the stuff, but no one's putting a tag on it out loud; the whispering is about 3 cents a can.
